Ambergris Caye, the island with it’s only town San Pedro, 35 miles off the Belize coast, is a true paradise. My newsletter is all about island life and a laid back lifestyle. Start dreaming. It could be you life soon. Enjoy:
There’s something new in town!
The Coffee & Sub Shop on Front Street now serves American style “Subs” with your choice of meat, cheese, veggies and sauces. As I could hear from tourists, they are even better than the “originals” from “Subway” or “Quiznos” in the US.
I never had a chance to try one of those originals but I must say this is a great idea for lunch when in San Pedro. $ 9.- BZ ($ 4.50 US) for a new experience.
One of my favourite places north of the bridge is “Las Terrazas“, a first class resort with great amenities. Getting there by golf cart takes around 30 minutes, going there by water taxi is easier. The nice pool, a walk on the beautiful beach in front of the resort and having lunch at the Restaurant “O” makes my day. Some of the condominiums are still for rent. Out of my price range but always a pleasure to spend some time up there.
My number one clothing store in San Pedro is “Top Notch”.
Located on Barrier Reef Drive (locals call it “Front Street”) this shop offers the newest clothes and accessories.
A jeans dress with tan high heels and matching bracelets, earrings and necklace … wow … looking “top notch” is always top priority for any girl.
Today my only problem was to choose the right shoes for my outfit – because I fell in love with all of them.
Top Notch is truly the place to shop for the perfect outfit.

Today I had lunch at Sunset Restaurant on the lagoon side of San Pedro. Coconut Jerk Snapper – grilled catch of the day with coconut, onion, pepper and jerk sauce, served with green salad and coconut rice. A really yummy meal for $ 29.- BZ ($ 14.50 US). And of course an ice cold Belikin Beer.
After lunch I visited a friend living at Ambergris Lake Villas which is around 1 mile south of the town center. This new development has still some of the 2 or 3 bedroom apartments for rent or sale. As you can see on the picture, a really great place to live on a lake and just a 3 minute walk away from the beach. Prices start at $ 169,000 US and the rent for a 2 bedroom condo is around $ 1,200 US/month. Vacation rentals are available also.
What could be better than spending the rest of the day right on the beach and close to a beach bar. Exotic drinks like the “Dirty Banana”, a Mojito or a classic Caipirinha make life easy. Of course Belikin, the beer of Belize is always a favorite on a hot sunny day like this.
